Re: Νέα Nikon D700.

Many have wondered why the review of the D700 never seems to appear. After all, hasn't everything been researched to the last detail, and how long can the final write-up possibly take?
Well, as so often happens, there is more to a story than meets the eye. During the last stage of field testing the D700, I was (unknowingly at that time) infested with Lyme's disease. I knew I had encountered a tick bite or two, not surprisingly since that location is infamous for its tick density. But I've been bitten so many times before. Nevertheless, this time fouler stuff was lying in store for me. In the following weeks, I got gradually less focused and had swollen joints. But also at that time I still was recovering from a nasty attack of water flukes that occurred before the tick incident. So I paid no attention to the new symptoms and thought I just was overworked. After all, the summer had been very hectic with a rush to get all the new gear put through the field stages. Something was amiss, however, but difficult to track down. You tend to push the difficult decisions before you in hope the situation clears itself. Well, it didn't.
A week ago I got a severe and acute outbreak of late-stage Lyme borreliosis, with excruciating muscular pain, partial paralysis of extremities, and severely impaired mobility. In fact, I could hardly move at all. This occurred when I was initiating my planned trip into the mountains of southern Norway. Fortunately, my girl friend was still travelling with me and she whisked me back to Oslo where I was admitted to intensive medical care.
The foreseeable future now is being linked to IV lines for a period of 3 months, perhaps even 6 months. What a nasty little bugger this Ixodes ricinus is. It single-handedly thwarted my D700 review and any other photographic exploration for months ahead.
