Syabas Announces Collaboration With Intel to Use Intel® AtomTM Processor CE4100 in Digital Media Jukeboxes
FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire - January 7, 2011) - Syabas, a leading global distributor of digital entertainment solutions, today announced a collaboration to incorporate the Intel® Atom™ processor CE4100 in the next generation of Syabas Digital Media Jukeboxes.
The CE4100 processor, formerly codenamed "Sodaville," is the first 45nm-manufactured consumer electronics (CE) system-on-chip (SOC) based on Intel architecture. It supports broadcast TV and Internet applications TV, and has the processing power and audio/video components necessary to run rich media applications such as 3-D movie and online game graphics.
"At Syabas, it is our aim to offer consumers everything they love about TV and the internet together on one screen," said Armando Lopez, VP of Strategic Product Marketing at Syabas. "Devices require more processing power to support new capabilities and the CE4100 processor has performance to deliver advanced applications and graphics."
Syabas products unify content from various networked devices by streaming it all to your television, and pulls web content in the form of Internet apps that are accessible via the Syabas Apps Market. The Network Media Jukebox software enables the Syabas products to access IMDb (Internet Movie Database) online to display movie poster art and information in a rich user interface, instead of old PC-style file names. Syabas devices feature video playback with support for up to 100mbps streams, and 24P frame rates. They also allow you to enjoy your disc image files with no loss of movie quality and interactive menu support, meaning you will never notice that you're actually watching a digital file instead of the original disc.
"Intel is pleased that Syabas has selected the CE4100 to power its next generation Digital Media Jukeboxes," said Wilfred Martis, general manager, Retail CE, Intel Digital Home Group. "Consumers need solutions that integrate content from various sources, and provide access to Internet applications, all on the TV. The Syabas products help answer this need."
