Hi folks - been away so haven't been able to contribute earlier. I have the Bronica S2 & bellows and have the following lenses Zenzanon 150mm f3.5, Zenzaon 40mm f4 and the Nikkor 75mm 2.8. The bellows unit really is designed for close up work and using tilt & shift to manipulate composition & depth of field in that instance. However my initial interest in the bellows was to manipulate dof in non close up work - the bellows are quite unusual in their tilt/shift capabilities in this format. The problem lies in the congested nature of the bellows when far focussing and it's prevention of the movements - so it's possible but difficult, with the wide angle its just too congested, while you get more movement as the focal length increases and most with my 150mm. If you want to try other format lenses then large format ones will give you the space to manoevre that you require though you'll have to make your own adaptor - no great difficulty if your manipulating depth of field as their is no great requirement for absolute parallelism between lense & focal plane (so gaffer tape & card will do). 35mm format lenses will not work at all - think how close 35mm lens rear elements are to the film. If you want persue this type of dof manipulation more with medium format their are two easier options - Graflex cameras - different models have different movements but are adaptable. Mamiya Press Super 23 - has rear movements & shoots 645, 66, 67 & 69 with different backs.
