3D Blu-ray may be getting all the buzz at CES 2010, but standard Blu-ray players are still the meat-and-potatoes of the home theater market. Sony announced two new standard Blu-ray players at CES 2010--the BDP-S370 and BDP-S570--building on the streaming media features of the BDP-N460.


Key features of the Sony BDP-S370:

  • HDMI 1.4 output
  • Access to the Bravia Internet Video platform, which includes Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, Pandora, Slacker, and NPR streaming capability
  • Ethernet jack
  • DLNA compliant (with firmware update); capable of sharing photos, music and videos from a connected PC

  • Browse actor and movie information via Gracenote
  • Control via iPhone/iPod Touch

We reviewed the Sony BDP-N460 just last month and were impressed with its wide variety of streaming media content and solid Blu-ray playback performance. The BDP-S570 addresses our biggest concern by adding built-in Wi-Fi, with the BDP-S370 presumably offering a cheaper option for those content with Ethernet.

3D Blu-ray is one of the big stories at CES 2010, and it's no surprise that Sony is a major player in Blu-ray's next incarnation. Sony announced its first standalone 3D Blu-ray player, the BDP-S770, which also manages to integrate the best features of its current Blu-ray players.


Key features of the Sony BDP-S770:

  • 3D Blu-ray player
  • HDMI 1.4 output
  • Access to the Bravia Internet Video platform, which includes Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, Pandora, Slacker, and NPR streaming capability
  • Built-in Wi-Fi; Ethernet also available
  • DLNA compliant; capable of sharing photos, music, and videos from a connected PC
  • Front panel USB port
  • SACD-compatible

In 2009, Sony's BDP-S560 had Wi-Fi, but limited streaming media options; the BDP-N460 had tons of streaming media options, but only Ethernet connectivity. The Sony BDP-S770 has the best of both players, so you'll have easy access to some instant gratification media when you're tired of wearing 3D glasses.
As far as 3D Blu-ray goes, we haven't had enough hands-on testing with the new format to report whether it's worth the extra money. It's worth mentioning that 3D Blu-ray will likely require both a compatible HDTV and a new HDMI 1.4 cable, so the true cost of 3D will be relatively high if you've bought a new HDTV recently. There's also the issue of 3D Blu-ray media, which will probably be scarce for all of 2010.

4 Νέα Blue Ray Recorders από την Sony για το 2010:

Η Sony παρουσίασε στην Ιαπωνία 4 νέα Blue Ray Recorders με ενσωματωμένους σκληρούς δίσκους και διπλούς ψηφιακούς δέκτες mpeg-4, για εγγραφή ακόμη και εκπομπών HD.




BDZ-RX105 / BDZ-RX55


Οι κωδικοί των μοντέλων αυτών είναι BDZ-RX105 (1TB HDD) BDZ-RX55 (500GB HDD) BDZ-RX35 (320GB HDD) & BDZ-RS15 (320GB HDD). Τα τρία πρώτα έχουν διπλό δέκτη, ενώ το RS15 έχει μονό. Σύμφωνα με την Sony παρουσιάστηκαν ειδικά για το παγκόσμιο κύπελλο ποδοσφαίρου το καλοκαίρι του 2010 στην Ν. Αφρική, ώστε να μπορούν να προσφέρουν τις εγγραφές των αγώνων σε HD.

Οι αλγόριθμοι με τους οποίους είναι συμβατά, είναι οι MPEG1/2/4 και AVC (H264) σε αναλύσεις 1920 Χ 1080, 1.4440 Χ 1.080 και SD, ενώ υποστηρίζουν εγγραφή ήχου Dolby Digital 5.1 και AAC.

Νεο στη γκαμα ενα ενδιαμεσο μοντελο , το 470 , με σταμπα 3d ready , κατι που σημαινει πως οταν φτασει ο καιρος , θα αναβαθμιστει το firmware .

Τωρα αν DivxHD ειναι το MKV , τοτε το υποστηριζει (καποιο λακο εχει η φαβα), ετσι λεει το site της sony , και στα 3 μοντελα 570 , 470 , 370

Buy now, watch 3D later. That’s the message from Sony, as it launched a clutch of new Blu-ray hardware this week. In a move reminiscent of the stuttering introduction of BD-Live, Sony is rolling out players and systems described as ‛3D ready’. A firmware update later this year will ‛turn on’ three-dimensional functionality.

Key new kit is the BDP-S470 (pictured below), a step-down on the previously announced BDP-S570 player. Unlike the S470, the BDP-S570 is 3D-capable straight out of the box, with no firmware update required.

The only other difference between the S570 and S470 seems to be the inclusion of integrated Wi-Fi and 1GB of resident BD-Live memory on the higher-end model. Both the S470 and S570 boast super-fast start-up and loading times.

Feature rich
Significantly, all of Sony’s 2010 Blu-ray range are Super Audio CD compatible. The inclusion of SACD support should both surprise and delight cinephiles with existing SACD libraries.

To improve the quality of online video sources, the top-of-the-line BDP-S570 has IP content Noise Reduction. There’s also a new Entertainment Database Browser, powered by Gracenote, which allows users to browse crew and production information. The S570 is DLNA compliant, and able to stream music and video from networked sources. File support is wide and includes DivX HD and MKV formats.

If 3D isn’t your thing, Sony has the otherwise tasty BDP-S370. All of the brand’s new BD players can access content online, via Sony’s Bravia portal. In the UK this includes BBC iPlayer, Lovefilm, YouTube and Dailymotion. Stateside users can choose from around 25 providers, including Netflix and Amazon Video on Demand.

The decks can also be controlled via an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. A free App called BD Remote will not only control the players, but allow you to browse BD sleeve artwork and cast/crew/production information. All the hardware should street from March, with player prices peaking at around £250.

Πηγα να παρω το 370 σημερα απο το multirama αλλα ευτηχως 'η δυστηχως επρεπε να το παραγειλω κ δεν το εκλεισα, θα εκανε μια μερα, Μηπως πρεπει να κανω υπομονη κ να παρω το 470 που θα εχει γυρω στα 250 ευρω κ θα ειναι 3D READY (αλλα προσωπικα δεν εχω σκοπο να αλλαξω τηλεοραση τα επομενα 2 χρονια) 'η να παρω τωρα το 370 κ βλεπουμε????,
(θα φτιαξουμε πυργο σε λιγο απο dvd k blu-ray players)

Sony (USA) has announced a new AV receiver, the STR-DN1010. It's their first with HDMI 1.4, in order to pass through 3D video. That's interesting but it made us wonder whether you really need v1.4 for that or if a lower version will do. After all, if v1.3 can't do it then how is Sony going to live up to their promise to upgrade PlayStation3 to 3D video output (for games and also, we presume, Blu-ray 3D)?

Yes, devices built to the HDMI 1.4 specification will be fully backwards-compatible with existing HDMI devices and their features.
Can older HDMI (v.1.0 - 1.3) devices be firmware-upgraded to take advantage of the new features introduced in HDMI 1.4?

Probably not. Most of the new features introduced in HDMI 1.4 will require a new HDMI chip to enable, and cannot be upgraded via firmware.

Φίλε μου δεν γίνεται να περιμένουμε γιατί συνεχώς όλο και κάτι καινούργιο θα βγαίνει. Άμα πάμε έτσι δεν θα πάρουμε ποτέ τίποτα, το'κανα και εγώ παλιότερα αλλά με αυτή την τακτική δεν πρόκειται να χαρούμε ποτέ τίποτα.

Ακριβώς....την τεχνολογία όσο και να προσπαθούμε δεν πρόκειται να την φέρουμε στους ρυθμούς που θα μας βόλευε ποτέ και με τίποτα.

Συμπέρασμα τρίτο: Όσον αφορά στη διαφορά ανάμεσα στις εκδόσεις 1.3 και 1.4 των θυρών και καλωδίων HDMI, τα νέα είναι εν μέρει καλά. Μιλώντας μόνο για την εικόνα και συγκεκριμένα γι' αυτήν, υπάρχει αρκετό εύρος διαμεταφοράς δεδομένων ώστε να "περάσει" και από HDMI 1.3 το video ανάλυσης 1080p με δύο ταυτόχρονα καρέ. Φυσικά η τηλεόραση πρέπει απαραίτητα να είναι 3D για να τα προβάλλει αυτά τα καρέ, λειτουργώντας είτε στα 120 είτε στα 240 Hz ώστε να δώσει είτε 60 είτε 120 Hz σε κάθε μάτι (στον κινηματογραφικό ρυθμό των 24 καρέ που έτσι κι αλλιώς θα δίνουν οι ταινίες Blu-ray 3D).

Συμπέρασμα τέταρτο: Όσον αφορά στην εικόνα 3D και τους ενισχυτές audio/video, όμως, κακά τα νέα. Κανένας από τους παρόντες ενισχυτές δεν αναγνωρίζει το σήμα της εικόνας υψηλής ευκρίνειας 3D, ώστε να το αφήσει να περάσει μέσα από τα κυκλώματά του προς τηλεοράσεις και προβολείς. Επειδή οι ενισχυτές, οι τηλεοράσεις και τα player επικοινωνούν μέσω του προτύπου Extended Display Identification Data - στου οποίου τις προδιαγραφές δεν είχε προβλεφθεί η 3D εικόνα - κανένας ενισχυτής, ακόμη και πρόσφατης εσοδείας, δεν μπορεί να κάνει κάτι τέτοιο.

Μόνη λύση για να έχει κανείς ήχο υψηλής ευκρίνειας και ταυτόχρονα εικόνα 3D - αλλά χρησιμοποιώντας ενισχυτή 1.3 - είναι να συνδέσει το player του απευθείας με 3D τηλεόραση ή 3D προβολέα με ένα καλώδιο HDMI και με ένα δεύτερο να στείλει τον ήχο στον ενισχυτή. Μόνο ένα Blu-ray player έχει ανακοινωθεί πως θα έχει τέτοια "διπλή" έξοδο HDMI, το BDT350 της Panasonic - ίσως ακολουθηθεί η ίδια προσέγγιση και από άλλους κατασκευαστές, αν και κάποιοι υποθέτουμε πως θα επιλέξουν να προσπεράσουν το μεταβατικό στάδιο εντελώς και να ξεκινήσουν απευθείας με συσκευές HDMI 1.4.
