The Apple faithful just can’t get a break. Between all those conflicting iPhone rumours and the lack of concrete evidence for an Apple mobile, all hopes for the Mac maker’s wonder-phone hang on Macworld in January. But here’s another spanner in the works – Linksys just launched their own iPhone.
Taking a leaf out of Apple’s branding book, the network specialist has pulled a VoIP handset out of the hat, complete with lowercase “i” and capital “P”.
Linksys’ iPhone is smarter than your average blower too, showing when contacts are available for calls, as well as offering music, movies and live video cameras through the handset.
We’d all gotten used to calling Apple’s fictional phone by the Linksys-owned name, but that’ll have to change if Steve Jobs still wants to unveil a handset in January.
Next up for debate – what can Apple call its phone now? iChat Mobile? AppleTalk? MacBabble? Either way, it’ll take some getting used to.
